baking day - bread

The last couple days have been baking days! I had a lot of bread to make, and Alex wanted some more honey oatmeal rolls to take with him on a trip he's taking.

Here is the bread all rising, there are a couple pans of honey oatmeal rolls, a couple small loaves of white sourdough bread, and a loaf of wheat sourdough bread.
Here is the finished loaf of wheat sourdough bread. This loaf is a little denser and made with wheat flour. It was an experiment, but turned out really well!!
These are the two small loaves of white sourdough bread - my favorite! They're a little smaller than the wheat loaf, since they used less dough each.
All in all, a productive baking day!

orange sourdough rolls

I have a sourdough starter that my mom has used for as long as I can remember, and I use it to make bread, cinnamon rolls, and pancakes, all from her recipes.

Although I love regular cinnamon rolls, I decided to try orange rolls. Alex likes orange rolls from the store, so we gave it a shot.

Normally, to make the cinnamon rolls, I prepare the dough normally, roll it out flat, cover it in butter, cinnamon, and sugar, and then roll it up and cut it.

This time, I used butter, less cinnamon and sugar, and orange zest. (I also mixed a little bit of orange juice with the butter.) They turned out pretty good! Not the prettiest pan of orange rolls, but they tasted good!

asiago cheese bread

My mom came out to visit over Labor Day weekend, and I took the opportunity to get her to help me make a batch of asiago cheese bread! We made this using my sourdough bread starter, and it turned out great!!

It's a round loaf of sourdough bread, with asiago cheese and basil. Yummy!
